will_crissmanDear Middle School Families,

It was great to see so many of you at Dr. Englander’s presentation last night. She spoke with faculty and staff in advance of her parent presentation. We found her research and the practical application of that work to be informative and very useful in our work with your children. We were not able to record the parent presentation; instead, we’ll provide some key take-aways in a separate message.

This afternoon we held an assembly in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. State Senator Walter Timilty and State Representative Bill Driscoll, Jr. spoke to the Middle School about the life and legacy of Dr. King, urging students to do good deeds in honor of MLK Jr. Day. We also enjoyed a performance by master storytellers Sumner and Linda McClain. The students will be following up on the messages of our speakers and performers by writing letters to state legislators about how they are inspired by them and Dr. King’s work. Additional activities and follow-up will take place over the course of the next few weeks.

In this week’s Middle School Newsletter, you will find a wonderful “Faculty Voice” column by Grade 8 social studies teacher Sharon Mathieu, information about our upcoming Geography Bee, a reminder about the the School-wide MLK Jr. Brunch, and details about the week ahead.

Have a good weekend,

Will
