Items that Need your Attention:

Register for your September 30 Conference

  • Classes will be in session, and specialists are looking forward to having some additional time with students during conferences.
  • These conferences are an opportunity for teachers to get to know you, your child, and your family. They are meant for you to share information which is relevant to a good start to the year as well as for you and the teacher to set goals for your child.
  • To make an appointment with your child’s homeroom teacher, click here. Once on the conference appointment page, choose your child’s homeroom teacher from the list. You will be directed to his or her calendar where you can click on the time slot you wish to reserve. You will be asked to provide your name and email address so that we may confirm your appointment.
  • Should you have any questions, please contact Cassondra Basile at 617-898-2516.

Stomping Ground Photography will be photographing Lower School students on Thursday, September 29. Click here to select either indoor or outdoor photos for your child. Indoor photos will have a solid background. Outdoor photos will have a natural landscape from a location outside Greenleaf Hall. Photographers will take approximately 10 photographs. Photos will be both the traditional headshot, as well as of the creative variety. Two to three weeks after picture day, parents will receive a unique login to view a private gallery and to make purchases on the Stomping Grounds Photography website.

Here’s What’s Coming Up

Thursday, September 29 – School Photo Day

Friday, September 30 – Parent Conferences

Early Release Friday – Friday, September 30
Students are all dismissed at noon, prior to lunch. Our After School Program will offer special activities for students. These special early release activities were quite a hit with students and parents last year! Click ASP 2016-2017 for information and to register.

Upcoming Assemblies

  • September 23 – El Pilar School. Join us to learn about this wonderful new partnership created between our Milton Academy Lower School and the Lower School of El Pilar. Last fall, four Lower School teachers visited El Pilar to learn about the School’s programs as well as to partner in curricular projects. This year, several El Pilar are spending time at Milton. At this assembly, teachers will share what they are learning.

Announcements

  • Lower School Admissions: Accelerated Process for Kindergarten Siblings

Milton families interested in applying a younger sibling for Kindergarten may take advantage of an accelerated timeline for the application process. All applications for grades other than Kindergarten follow the standard application timeline as outlined in our Admission viewbooks and on the School’s Website. While we have a strong commitment to our students’ siblings, we cannot guarantee admission. With an earlier decision, we hope to give families with children for whom Milton is not an optimal fit time to investigate other options. For more information, please contact the admissions office at 617-898-2509

  • Seeking Prospective Admission Tour Guides

The K–8 Admission Office is looking for volunteers to give tours of campus to prospective families. A Tour Guide Training session will take place on Tuesday, September 20 at 8:15 in Perry Reading Room. Ideally, tour guides can commit either to a regular time or can substitute in a pinch. We also heartily welcome volunteers who are returning or new to our community, and we will provide the training necessary for you to feel comfortable with giving tours.  If you would like to volunteer as a tour guide, click Tour Guide Sign Up Sheet 2016 to access the sign-up sheet which can be returned either in person or via e-mail at k8admissionoffice@milton.edu. For questions, contact Meg Burke at 617-898-2510.

Reminders: Have you…

  • sent extra shoes for P.E.?
  • assured that your child isn’t wearing open-toed shoes on woodworking days?
  • had a talk about the place of personal electronics in school?
