will_crissmanDear Middle School Families,

Thank you to Robert Lightbody for his thoughtful column about the importance of affinity groups. I urge you to read his reflection for its importance to the growth and development of all our students.

Thank you, also, to the cast and crew (and MANY Middle School students who pitched in to help) of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. for a wonderful performance last night! You truly transported us to a world of pure imagination. Special thanks to Debbie Simon for directing this gift to our community, to Louise Mundinger for orchestrating the music, to Sharon Mathieu for transforming Thacher into a magical candy factory, to Upper School teacher Kelli Edwards for her choreography, and to former Middle School students Jocelyn Sabin and Ashley Hales (both currently in the Upper School) for dedicating their time to co-direct this special show.

On our docket for next week is Dr. Richard Ginsburg’s presentation, Whose Game is it Anyway? Dr. Ginsburg will speak to students during the athletic period, and to parents from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Straus. Students are welcome to stay in our After School Program during the duration of the parent presentation. Details about Dr. Ginsburg and his presentation are in the Week Ahead section.

In addition to the information about the Ginsburg presentation, this week’s Middle School Newsletter, includes a reminder to Grade 8 families regarding the forms for the D.C. trip, information about our upcoming double speech tournaments, a link to R.S.V.P. for next Friday’s Parent, Faculty and Staff Spring Social, a message from our Parents’ Association, an update on Parent Giving, and details about the week ahead.

Have a good weekend,
Will
